The Renault ZOE is Europe’s best selling electric car and now there’s an upgraded, third edition. Renault prides itself on being front and centre of electric car development.
The new Venture edition comes with a 52kWh battery and the largest possible range of 245 miles. The model, which came out at the beginning of 2021, is already living up to expectations and has been awarded the WhatCar? Car of the Year 2021 for the Best Small Electric Vehicle for Value.
The ZOE is one of the cheapest EVs on the market, but it certainly doesn’t feel or drive cheap! The small hatchback is a great all-rounder in terms of practicality and range. You could easily use the ZOE as your regular car and not just as a limited use second car.
Read on to hear why you should buy a Renault ZOE.
As the ZOE is already very popular you might wonder why Renault would want to change anything, but the new edition has some snazzy upgrades!
Building on the previous model, the standard features on this model include a 10-inch TFT Driver Information Display, a 7-inch infotainment system. As well as built-in Apple CarPay and Android Auto. The 2021 variant also offers drivers climate control, lane-keep assist and lane-departure warning for those looking for extra additions.
Renault have also upgraded the ZOE’s charging speed and capacity. Previously, the ZOE was not considered the fastest EV to charge. Now the ZOE reaches 80% charge in just an hour!
The raised driving position is beneficial as it gives good visibility of the road ahead. Being a smaller EV, the ZOE is easy to park too. Especially with the rear parking sensors that are standard on the Iconic and GT Line models.
WHAT’S IT LIKE INSIDE?
First and foremost, the ZOE is definitely quiet. On the move below 20mph it is almost silent, making the smallest of sounds to ensure pedestrians or cyclists are not taken by surprise. It is so refined and smooth that you’re unlikely to miss the hum of an engine. Finally, the seats are soft, supportive and the seat upholstery is made from recycled plastic bottles in some models.
Inside the ZOE borrows heavily from the Clio and Captur, continuing the modern and minimalist of Renault. The interior is smart and high-quality ditching conventional dials with a digital TFT Display that shows the range and speed of the vehicle.
With a five star Euro NCAP crash-testing rating the ZOE measures up to be a perfect safe family electric vehicle. It has all the airbags and electronic control systems you’d expect of a supermini as well as being comfortable and fun to drive.
The newest ZOE is a terrific all-round package and a perfect introduction to the world of EV with:
- Impressive range of the latest tech
- Well equipped as standard
- Agile all-electric hatchback
