Audi e-tron is going from strength to strength with new models appearing on the market and causing quite a stir. The first of the e-tron lineup to make an appearance in 2019 was the Audi e-tron 55 Quattro. What is the Audi E-Tron 55 Quattro?
Put simply, the Audi e-tron was the manufacturer’s introduction to the electric vehicle world. Audi was one of the first legacy manufacturers to release a luxury car onto the market. The e-tron proved to be a popular choice as well
Built as a solid SUV, the Audi e-tron inspires confidence in the quality of the car. Big and imposing, the e-tron was making a statement as a status symbol. A car to be admired. There are some very strong features on the car, and some beautifully aggressive edges. This is a car that wasn’t hiding behind a soft design.
Inside the E-Tron
Before moving onto the cabin of the Audi e-tron 55 Quattro, I think it is definitely worth starting with the boot and the froot (or frunk for our American friends). The space afforded in the boot is quite sensational. A highly impressive 569 litres with the seats up, and 1,637 litres with the seats down are afforded to you. Add to this a 62 litre froot and you can see that there is a lot of room to play with.
The cabin itself is also very roomy. There is no lack of legroom for the passengers in either the front or the back seats. The ceiling height is perfect for the taller companions as well.
There is a great level of technology in the Audi e-tron 55 Quattro which is nicely and tastefully displayed on the dashboard. Nothing looks out of place or gaudy. Classy is how the e-tron 55 Quattro is designed, and it looks wonderful. All the usual applications are included, and they are easy to navigate through.
Performing Brilliantly
Before looking at some pretty impressive performance figures, it is worth pointing out the the Audi e-tron 55 Quattro won the Pick+ top safety award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety in 2019. This made it the first electric vehicle to achieve this prestigious accolade.
Complete with a 95kWh battery, this four-wheel-drive car has a real world range of around 249 miles. This is a huge amount for what is a big and heavy vehicle. Although heavy, you won’t feel any sluggish dragging on acceleration. With a 0-60mph time of just 5.7 seconds and a top speed of 124mph, this is a car with a premium level performance.
Standing the Test of Time
Although we are 5 years on, the Audi e-tron 55 Quattro really withstands the test of time very well. Respected publications, such as Auto Trader, have reviewed the Audi e-tron to see how it tests over the long-term. The results have been incredibly positive with the vehicle retaining it’s performance over longer periods.
