Why buy a Tesla Model S?

electric car

Fast, refined, well equipped and practical. Of course, we could only be talking about one brand of car, in particular the Tesla Model S.

When most people think of electric cars, the luxury Tesla brand is often the one that comes to mind. However, it paints a very expensive picture, and drivers feel that they can’t afford to buy an electric car. Especially something produced by Tesla.

In our latest blog post find out why you should buy a Tesla Model S, and the perks of owning one. Plus explore used electric cars available at EV Sales.

The California based company, Tesla, was founded in 2003, by Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning. It wasn’t until 2004 when the name we know all about joined, Elon Musk. Elon invested 6.5 million dollars into the Tesla brand and became the chairman of the board of directors.

It was Elon Musk that took an active role and oversaw the Tesla Roadster that was first released in 2008. He was always the main man behind ensuring Tesla’s long term goal to create mass market electric vehicles was maintained. The aim was to begin with a premium, sporty car to grab the attention of the market, and then gradually move into more mainstream EVs that would appeal to a larger target audience. They have certainly done this.

What cars have been made?

Since the Roadster in 2008, Tesla then went on to produce the first roll out of the Tesla Model S, the car that we know and love today. The Tesla Model S has gone from strength to strength winning countless awards including:

In 2015, the first deliveries of the next generation Tesla began, the Tesla Model X. After only one year of being on sale, this car was ranked among the world’s best-selling plugin cars. What an achievement!

The latest design to be released on the EV market is the Tesla Model 3. The Model 3 graced us with its presence in mid 2019. This particular model was anticipated to be the more affordable EV from Tesla. If you’re driving, you’re guaranteed to see at least three Model 3s being driven, and now that’s practically doubled. Imagine what will happen in another couple of years!

Back to our favourite model, the original Tesla Model S. Now’s the time to find out why drivers think this EV is fantastic…

The Tesla Model S is definitely one of the premium, luxurious models of EVs currently on the market. The price to buy a Tesla Model S from new definitely highlights this. Nevertheless, it doesn’t have to be as costly as originally planned. If you have a spare £80,000 readily available to buy a brand new model then great, although that would be a big purchase for most people.

By buying a used Tesla Model S from a trusted dealer, you could be saving yourself a fortune! We have Tesla Model Ss available starting at £28,000.

When you buy any vehicle from EV Sales the batteries will come with the vehicle, so it’s one less thing for you to worry about. Batteries are predicted to last between at least 10 – 20 years, depending on how the driver uses it. Our vehicles are no more than 5 years old, and the batteries still have plenty of life in them!

Range and Driving

There are various Tesla Model Ss available to purchase, and the range differs in each car. The year of the car will also make a difference too. On average, drivers will be guaranteed at least 200 miles on a full charge, which is based on a basic Tesla Model S. If drivers contain their need for speed, and drive the car economically, they will benefit from additional mileage that will be stored from regenerative braking.

Let’s talk about the actual driving. As the Tesla Model S is fitted with an electric motor, and no gear shifts it’s incredibly smooth at pulling off and driving. With only the sound of the road beneath the wheels and wind, you won’t be missing the sound of an internal combustion engine!

Luxurious interior

Firstly, we can’t speak about the luxurious, sleek interior without mentioning the dashboard. All Teslas have been designed with a main dashboard that will allow the driver to control every function of the EV from one screen. As you would expect to see in a car as sumptuous as the Model S, the car is packed out with hi-tech equipment, which is homed in the 17” colour touchscreen. Everything you could possibly need can be found here including headlights, heated seats, radio controls, bluetooth connectivity and even the sat nav.

To speed up the production of the Tesla Model S, the company decided to get rid of most optional extras and allow them to come as standard when you buy the car.  We absolutely love the minimalist feel in the Tesla Model S!

You’ll be surprised to know that a car this luxurious also comes with an ample amount of storage space too. There is roughly 894 litres of luggage space across the whole car, including the frunk (front trunk) and a large boot.
