The Vauxhall Vivaro-e is simply a fantastic electric van to drive. Firstly, the real world range of 175 miles makes this vehicle incredibly practical for travelling longer distances. This too is greatly helped by the incredibly quick charging speed that the Vivaro-e has. On a 150kW charger you can achieve a 15-80% charge in as little as 20 minutes!
Of course, with a proper hard-wearing work van, it is the cargo capacity figures that make the biggest difference. The electric version of the Vivaro van holds its own pretty well in this regard. There is a load length of 2.8 metres in the rear. The total volume of the cargo area is an impressive 9.6 cubic metres. When it comes to the payload, you have just over a tonne at 1,002kg.
Of course, we love the Vauxhall Vivaro-e, but what do our customers think? We have spoken to 4 different customers who have recently bought a Vauxhall Vivaro-e from EV Sales and asked them why they chose this van. I have changed their names for privacy reasons, but here is what they had to say.
Anni-Frid – The Vauxhall Vivaro-e Flower Lady
When asked why she had bought a Vauxhall Vivaro-e, Anni-Frid said “I work as a florist near the Dartford area, just outside the proposed ULEZ area. Because of where my business is situated, I have a lot of customers come to me from Greater London and, at times, Central London. I wanted to get ahead of the game and get an electric van that would allow me to continue with my deliveries without being fined”.
Anni-Frid is not alone in this regard. A lot of our vehicles sold go to the Greater London area and surrounding towns. Getting ready for the expansion of the ULEZ zone coming into force has made many people speed up their transition to electric vehicles.
Benny – Charity in the No-Go Zone
Benny, again not his real name, tells us that he lives in Oxfordshire. Here is his reason. “I work with a couple of charities in the Oxford area. My job requires me to make deliveries and pickups in the Zero Emission Zone in the City. We’ve really struggled without an electric van to carry out the job. Until now we have relied on a Renault Zoe which is owned by one of the volunteers. This often led to multiple trips because of the car’s size. It just wasn’t sustainable”.
The Zero Emission Zone in Oxford is the strictest restriction so far in the UK. If you don’t have a suitable electric vehicle to carry out your work, you may struggle a bit. Benny buying an electric van made perfect sense.
Bjorn – Change for Good
Bjorn had very different reasons for making the change. When asked why he had chosen to purchase a Vauxhall Vivaro-e from us, Bjorn said “I have been trying to be more environmentally friendly for a few years now. I actually bought my Tesla Model 3 from you just last year and have been enjoying the feel-good factor that having an EV gives you. I am a painter and decorator with a couple of business partners, and we have been talking about getting a greener vehicle for work. We mostly work in south-west Kent and Surrey areas so we aren’t affected by any restrictions at the moment. I think they will come eventually though”.
Sometimes it isn’t necessity that’s driving change. Concern about the environment and the health of loved ones is a very persuasive argument for joining the electric revolution.
Agnetha – Cleaning up in a Vauxhall Vivaro-e
Agnetha was another of our customers who does a lot of work in London. In fact, she is based there. Agnetha told us, “my sister and I started up a cleaning business about seven years ago now. We are based just outside of Central London, but a lot of our clients are businesses well inside the Congestion Charge area. My sister and I have actually been talking about getting an electric van for a couple of years now, mainly to cut down on what we spend on Charge fees. With the ULEZ expansion thing on the way, we decided that now was the right time to make the change”.
Avoiding Congestion Charge fees is another great reason to buy a Vauxhall Vivaro-e. In fact, there are more and more restrictive areas appearing around the country where driving an EV makes sense.
Summing it up
As we’ve seen, there are so many different reasons why switching to an electric van like the Vauxhall Vivaro-e makes sense. Maybe you have to switch because where you work has so many restrictions. Or maybe you want to make the change because it is the best thing to do for the planet and for our collective health.
Our customers were more than happy for us to use the names of the members of ABBA to ensure their identities were kept secret. They have all become winners by buying an electric van. And, as ABBA told us, the winner takes it all. Not making the change, for some, would have been their Waterloo.
