Electric Vehicles – The Endless Wait

car charging

So you’ve decided to join the revolution and switch to electric vehicles! You are incredibly wise and deserve a round of applause. You may not be able to hear it, but I am clapping for you right now.

Then you hit a bit of a snag. You’ve picked the electric vehicle you want and you’ve gone to the dealer to proudly put your order in. Then you hear those dreaded words “I’m afraid there is going to be a long wait until your car is delivered”. Yes, delivery times for electric vehicles, well, all vehicles to be honest, but we don’t care about the dirty diesels any more do we, are very delayed.

What is causing the delay I hear you ask. Well, it is those very clever little superconductor chips that do all the brilliant stuff you find in cars, such as the infotainment system etc. There has been a global shortage of these chips, largely due to the manufacturers being so overwhelmed with the demand for them. The materials for making the chips is also quite hard to obtain at present. Therefore, if you want a brand new car, you’re going to have a long long wait.

Electric Vehicle Waiting Times

Of course, the length of time you will have to wait for a new electric vehicle will depend largely on the make and model of the vehicle you have chosen. However, to give you an idea of what times you are looking at, here are a few examples.

For a Hyundai Ioniq 5 you can expect to wait around 8 months, for a Kia EV6 GT Line you are currently looking at around 12 months, a Ford Mustang Mach-e will leave you hanging on for more than 8 months, a Porsche Taycan will leave you without an EV for around 18 months, and if you wanted a Tesla Model S or Tesla Model X you can expect to wait around for up to 2 years!

These wait times are quite shocking and they are affecting all manufacturers, even Mr Elon Musk’s Tesla brand. March of 2022 has seen the lowest sales of cars (any cars) during a March period since March 1998. This is all down to the global shortages and delays.

There is Another Way

We know how impatient you can be when waiting for a new car. The feeling is quite unbearable. However, there is a way you can get your hands on your dream electric vehicle right now.

At EV Sales we have a very wide range of electric cars and electric vans available. Most of our vehicles are second hand having previously been used by our sister company, EVision Electric Vehicles, as a rental vehicle. All of our second hand cars have been well cared for, maintained and professionally cleaned.

It isn’t just used vehicles that are available at EV Sales. We also provide some new vehicles that are incredibly popular as well. Plus you don’t have those very long waiting lists before you get your hands on one.

What is Available Right Now

If it is a smaller electric car that you are looking to buy, then maybe the wonderful Renault Zoe is exactly what you are looking for. At EVision Sales we have a number of Renault Zoes available to buy second hand. The batteries on all our Renault Zoes are owned and not rented, so you don’t have to worry about battery rental costs that existed on some of the earlier Renault Zoe models.

If you are looking for something a little bigger with more of a kick to it, why not consider going for the classic Tesla Model S 85. The Tesla Model S 85 that we have in stock is a 2014 model. As with all our second hand vehicles, this Tesla has only had the one previous owner who has maintained the vehicle to a very high professional standard.

Of course, if you want even more of a kick to your performance, why not try out the Tesla Model S P85. This is the performance version of the Model S 85 and it has a little more kick in the acceleration. As with the Tesla Model S 85 that we have in stock, the Tesla Model S P85 is a 2014 model and has been cared for by one previous, professional owner.

Maybe you like the Tesla brand but you want something a little smaller and more recent. Well the Tesla Model 3 is possibly the car for you. Still the best selling electric vehicle in the world, the Tesla Model 3 sent waves around the globe. Small, yet spacious. This is a powerful electric car with an excellent range and a stupendous acceleration. We highly recommend this car and don’t think it will be around for long.

Electric Vans for Sale

There aren’t just electric vehicles available. At EV Sales we also have a number of electric vans for you to consider. The Vauxhall Vivaro-e is the largest of our electric vans that we have for sale. This is a highly durable electric van with an excellent range of around 200 miles. Definitely one for you if you need to do more driving.
